October 2016

Hi there Beautiful,
I have always had combination skin where my T-zone would usually get oily and rest of my face would be dry. But from the past 6 months, my skin has been very oily and I started getting breakouts. So I changed a few of my skincare products to suit my skin and after all the trial and error, I’v come up with 5 skin care essentials for oily skin. Hope it helps anyone who has oily skin, some of these products are suited for all skin types even for the sensitive skin beauties and dry skin beauties will know what to avoid ;).

All the products mentioned are bought by me, mostly from Nykaa.com and all the reviews are my honest opinion and in no way this post is advertised :). Also if you haven’t signed up to Nykaa yet , then I can refer you and that way both of us can score 5000 reward points. Do let me know in the comments section if you want me to refer you along with your email id 🙂

I will list the products in the order of their usage.

1) Cetaphil Gentle skin cleanser I regret not knowing about this product before. It is so gentle, does not cause breakouts, infact it controlled my acne after continuous use, doesn’t make my skin super dry after washing which most of the face wash do, excellent for people with sensitive skin and also suitable for all the skin types. I use it first to remove my makeup, even the eye makeup and I must say it removes almost 75% of my makeup very easily. This does not lather a lot and does not have any scent and that is a good thing :). I have already emptied 2 bottles of this. To try out, I bought the smaller size of 125ml but it came for a good 2 months until it was empty. I also noticed breakouts after a week or so when I ran out of it. There is also a oily skin version of this, but it’s expensive and when this one does the job, I did not feel the need to go for the other one. So ladies if you are looking to invest in a good gentle cleanser then go for this one.

Price : 215 Rs

2) Lotus Herbals Teatree & Cinnamon Anti-acne oil control face wash – On the days I have less makeup on, I only use the Cetaphil cleanser. But for days where I have almost full face makeup, I use Lotus Herbals Teatree wash . It really helps to control oil and Teatree which is a fantastic anti-oxidant, helps control acne. It does not feel dry at all after washing. It has these micro fibre crystals in them which helps in scrubbing of the dead skin cells without being harsh on the skin. Comes in a tube packaging and one tube of 120 gms is good enough for upto 3 months :).

You can buy it here
Price : 175 Rs

3) Jovees cucumber skin toner – This toner is the best for any skin type. It’s basically cucumber extract, Aloe Vera and Chamomile. You cannot go wrong with this combination. It smells good just like cucumber and gets absorbed into the skin real quick. It comes in a 100ml spray bottle, you spray a few drops on a cotton pad and rub it on your face gently. This way it removes all the excess dirt , oil and makeup that your facewash could not remove.

You can buy it here
Price : 145 Rs

4) Lotus Herbals Alphamoist oil-free moisturiser – Another excellent product from Lotus herbals for oily skin :). People with oily skin usually think that moisturiser will make their skin more oily but no matter what your skin type is, you should never skip moisturiser. Instead go for a oil free one like this as it gets absorbed within seconds you apply it. It also has a mild fragrance which is a plus point. It provides the right amount of moisture for your skin and can be used during all the seasons. I totally recommend this product.

You can buy it here
Price : 245 Rs

5) The Body Shop Tea tree face mask – The main reason for me to buy this is Teatree. It is excellent for blemished skin. I apply this once in 7 or 14 days to pamper my skin. Apply it on your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse off. You will instantly feel a cooling effect and it smells good too :). It helps fade all the blemish marks. Also I use it on zits and leave it on overnight and by the next morning, my zit would have dried off. It is quite expensive, but one box comes for a good 4 to 5 months. The only downside is it is not easily available in India. I have mentioned a similar product from The Body Shop India site. There is free shipping offer going on currently 🙂

You can buy it here
Price : 995 Rs

One Bonus product I want to mention as I have been using it regularly. This is Bajaj Nomarks cream and it is suitable for all skin types. Very affordable , easily available in all medical stores and supermarkets. I have seen my acne blemishes fading after continuous use. I always buy the smaller tube of 12g so it is travel friendly. You can use it prior to applying your makeup on the day and every night before applying the moisturiser.
Price : 60 Rs

So these are my recommendations for oily skin. I purchased most of the products mentioned from Nykaa.com. Hope it helps 🙂 Do let me know in the comments section what products you use and find helpful.
Until then,
XOXO,

Hi there Beautiful 🙂.. With the same outfit and base makeup of part 1 ( read http://wonderfullyweirdlife.com/2016/10/08/double-winged-glitter-eye-look-with-ombre-lips-festive-day-makeup-tutorial/),  I changed my eyelook and lipstick and created this night look for the festive season. Let’s begin 🙂

img_6682
-> I removed the eye and lip makeup using a makeup wipe and prepped my eyes.I used tape to help me get the winged look. Then I used a dark brown eyeshadow to the outer corner of my eyes in circles and then defined the crease with the same using a blending brush.( Read http://wonderfullyweirdlife.com/2016/08/24/pink-smoky/ for details )

-> Next I applied a green eyeshadow over it covering one third of my outer eyelid.

-> Then I chose a purple shimmery eyeshadow and making a weird face, I pressed it onto my eyelid vertically covering the centre portion of my eyelid.

img_6636

-> For the rest of my eyelid towards the inner corner, I applied a vibrant purple eyeshadow for the pop.

img_6639

-> I blended all these colours together with a blending brush. Using a small fluffy brush I removed any fallouts. Using the tape as a reference, I drew the wing using liquid liner. then i peeled off the tape.

img_6641

-> My makeup on the under eyes had wiped off when i removed my eye makeup. So I dabbed the LA orange concealer under the eyes. Then I applied Maybelline matte and poreless foundation over the orange concealer. This will basically help cover the dark circles completely. Then I used Loreal true match concealer as highlighter and set it with a translucent powder.

-> I used a purple pencil liner to line my lower water line and then applied white highlighter on the inner corner of my eyes and on the brow bone.

img_6651

-> Lastly as always, I applied loads of mascara on my upper and lower lashes. This  completes the colourful eyelook 🙂

img_6655

-> For the lips, I went with the Stila liquid lipstick in Aria. This is a beautiful plum shade for the fall and goes very well with this eye look.

img_6664

-> I added a round purple bindi, peacock earrings and a rajasthani maang tika to complete this look 🙂

Hi there Beautiful :).. First of all a very Happy Dasara – Dusshera – Navaratri – Durga Pooja to all :). So many different names but the same festival celebrated with the same enthu:). It’s time to take out our fanciest outfits, glitter makeup and get all decked up for the festival :). Today I will be showing you a festive day look makeup tutorial and then how you can transform the same into a night look as part 2  (read here http://wonderfullyweirdlife.com/2016/10/09/festive-night-makeup-tutorial-part-2/ ):). So let’s start.

img_6621

Here is the day look. I have gone for a double winged liner with gold glitter and Ombre lips using 2 lipstick shades. Before I begin, I would like to mention that this eye look is for hooded eyes. Hooded eyes is when your crease overlaps creating a hood due to which you do not have a defined crease. Most of the Indian women have hooded eyes due to which double winged liner, cut crease look is always a challenge for us. Here I am showing a hack through which you can get the double winged liner look.

Hooded part of my eyes

Hooded part of my eyes

-> Once the base is set (refer post http://wonderfullyweirdlife.com/2016/08/24/pink-smoky/ to know more), apply a black pencil liner, starting it from the upper lash line all the way uptil where the hood ends. You need to  keep your eyes open to know exactly till where you need to fill in. You don’t have to be precise in this. Just apply the liner and make sure it doesn’t go above the hood line.

Apply black liner pencil

Apply black liner pencil

-> Using a small angular brush, start smudging the eyeliner. Take any matte black eyeshadow and using the same angular brush, press this into your eyelid where you applied the eyeliner. This will make it defined and gives a matte look. Then fill in the gaps if any.

smudge

-> Next comes the double winged liner part. To define the line, start from your lower lash line and swipe a wing upto your desired length with the angular brush and black eyeshadow. Using the first wing as reference, swipe out another wing parallel to it starting from the hooded line. You can easily rub it off until you get it right.

img_6536

define wing

-> Now that you have the base for the wings, draw the wings using a liquid liner.

img_6543

-> Use a small fluffy brush and clean up any fallouts. Keeping your eye closed, apply any nude eyeshadow on the remaining area of the eyelid. This way when you close your eyes, the entire look will be defined.

img_6549

-> Now comes the favourite part – Glitter :). Apply golden glitter liner in between the 2 winged lines. Then apply it on the upper lash line like you would with a normal liner.

img_6556 img_6559

-> Use any brown eyeliner or eyeshadow for the lower lash line. Use a white highlighter for the inner corners of your eyes and on the brow bone.

img_6566

-> Lastly I applied loads of Mascara and this completes the eye look 🙂

img_6568 img_6577

For the Ombre lip, follow the below steps. I would suggest using liquid lipsticks as it is easier to apply.

-> Apply a lip balm to moisturise and prep your lips. Then line and fill your lips using a nude lipliner.

nude lip liner

nude lip liner

-> Take a rosy pink lipstick and start with the centre of your lips. Apply it on the top half and below half of your lips.

-> Take a bright red lipstick and start from the corner of your lips. Fill in till where the pink lipstick ends. Start blending the red lipstick into the pink one using the lipstick applicator or a lip brush and you are done :).

I completed this look with a red bindi, huge nose ring and a pair of jhumkas 🙂
